12-June-2018 scanning logs Part 2

This is the second part of 12th June log. This was a very successful day, I must say. Late at night, I received (yet again) an extremely weak signal from Rádio Nacional Amazôni. The signal was coming, buried deeply in the noise, from Parque do Rodeadorin Brasil. This is first ime when I received signal from Brasil! Apart from that America signal were heard as usual.

12-June-2018 scanning logs Part 1

The saga continues. Because of a very extensive listening day on 12th June 2018, I had to split the log into two parts. I must admit the propagation was great on Tuesday and the next day too. Unfortunately, this was my working day so no logs during the day.

In the morning, I had only two catches and one seems to be Radio New Zealand International from Rangitaiki site. This is unbelievable! Multiple signal bounce at a distance 18550 km. The signal is extremally weak. I confronted the reception with RNZ website stream and the talk was heard. The signal or rather phonetic reception of the signal seems to be the same. At this time of the day, there is only one station scheduled for transmission. It has to be RNZ! Later at night American signal were here with moderate strength, but this is for part two.

11-June-2018 scanning logs

Not a very productive day, I must say. Most, if not all, USA signals came very week. Although a new site has been received - New Orleans! I am also happy with (very weak though) reception of 6165 RADIO HABANA CUBA. The target of this signal is Western North America, so it's opposite what I was receiving. Not bad at all considering an indoor reception.

10-Jun-2018 scanning logs

Yet another chapter to the logbook. This time with a new site being received. Basically, I scanned the bands twice, early in the morning and in the evening. Evening listening was more productive, shall I say? I've got two new signals: 6295 Reflections Europe, from an unknown location in Ireland and 4996 RWM (Time Signal) from Taldom - Severnyj, Radiotsentr 3 in Russia.

Another part of scanning logs from 6th June. Signals were rather weak. I did manage to receive (still weak) 6065 Voice of Hope Africa from Lusaka in Zambia. This is the first time when I received this signal indoors. I only received this site on a DX-pedition. Three new signals received on that day, 6130 TWR Africa (Umbundu) from Manzini in Swaziland, 3985 RAE Argentina to the World (German) from Kall-Krekei in Germany and 4625 The Buzzer from Naro-Fominsk (Moscow) in Russia.

06-Jun-2018 scanning logs Part 1

Because on Jun 6th, 2018 I had a very busy day by the radio, I decided to split the log into two parts. I was listening mostly on 22 M, 25 M and 19 M band. No new sites were received, but I am very happy with the reception of 15580 VoA from Selebi-Phikwe in Botswana. This is the best reception of this signal so far. Also, I should mention a decent signal from 13700 VoA from Pinheira (Sao Tome and Principe) Island. Yet again this is the best reception so far.

04-Jun-2018 listening logs

I am well behind with my logs. This is due to work commitments recently. On June 4th, I had some time in the morning and late at night for shortwave listening. I must admit, the loop antenna is fantastic. I entirely stop using wire.

In the morning session I had very strong signals from Europe, Issoudun in particular. Late at night, Cuban signals were present. At 2325 UTC I rceived superb signal from EWTN (WEWN) from Vandiver in Alabama, USA. I heard them before, but not as strong as tonight.

02-Jun-2018 listening logs

I had a chance to scan the bands just before work and later at night. There are some good results using the loop antenna. The first time or rather personal first is the reception of Dutch pirate station on 3915 so-called "The Technical Man". Also, Irish transmitter of Shannon Volmet was heard at 2243 UTC. So far so good. I like the antenna being so small and very practical in use.

01-Jun-2018 listening logs

I did not have too much time during the day to listen to the radio. Only two stations have been logged on the night 1st June 2018. Both signals (BBC) were coming from Karanji in Singapore. This is the first time when I used AOR L400 loop antenna. The propagation wasn't great therefore reception is rather poor. 6195 has been received in the past but 3915 is a new reception.

New antenna

As I mentioned in my previous post I have new antenna. It's has been delivered to me on 1st June 2018. After geting very good results on Shortwave using Degen 31MS active loop antenna I decided to upgrate to something much more exclussive.

What I find out, and what is also commonly known, the loop antennas are the best for indoor reception. They working very well separating noise and this is what I need. Unfortunateley they are not cheap and there's only a few that I select to buy, but eventually I decided to buy AOR LA400 Magnetic Loop Antenna.

Because Sporadic-E season has just began I had no time at all to properly test it the antenna. I did used several times, but propagation wasn't really good so time to tell if it was a good choice. More about AOR LA400 can be read here: http://www.aorja.com/antennas/la400.html
